About Wanaka

Situated on the southern shores of a pristine alpine lake, Wanaka has beautiful vistas of New Zealand's Southern Alps and provides access to the spectacular Mount Aspiring National Park. Snow-capped mountains in winter, mild autumns with spectacular colours and hot summers ensure that there are many and varied activities available throughout the seasons.

Four world-class skifields (Cardrona, Treble Cone, Snow Park and Wairoau Snow Farm) mean Wanaka becomes the centre of New Zealand's skiing and snowboarding in winter. These fields cater for downhill skiing and boarding with exceptional facilities. The Snow Farm has an extensive network of Nordic ski-trails for cross country skiing. Backcountry skiing is also possible with popular helicopter access options.
